Sherwood Park Crusaders sign Fort Sask hockey player

The Sherwood Park Crusaders announced on Wednesday morning that they have signed a Fort Saskatchewan hockey player to a contract for the upcoming season.

Kale Dach, who has no relation to the Kirby and Colton Dach, will suit up for the Crusaders this season after spending his minor hockey days playing for the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers program.

“Kale has been a very good player throughout his minor hockey career and has always been a player who’s led his teams,” said Adam Sergerie, the GM of the Crusaders. “With Kale, we knew that it was never a matter of him having the skillset to play at our level, but more about whether or not we felt he could push for minutes.”

“Kale had a great training camp and was very good in his two exhibition games with us. When it was all said and done, we all agreed Kale needed to be a Crusader.”

Dach was among the top players for the U17AAA Rangers last season, finishing second in scoring with 15 goals and 46 points. He was able to shine in the spotlight of the playoffs as well, adding 13 points in nine games.

The Crusaders are expecting Kale to add a new dimension of offensive talent to the roster.

“He is really one of those special players that has a knack to generate offense,” said Sergerie. “He has the ability to see the ice at a high level and he has a skillset that allows him to be a threat to score and a threat to pass.”

“His offensive instincts are, I don’t want to say elite, but they are very close to being elite.”

Dach wasn’t the only player signed by the Crusaders on Wednesday. The club also announced that Lauchlan Kozicky, a Calgary product, will also be joining the team this season.

The Crusaders kick off the season with their home opener against Fort MacMurray on Friday at the Sherwood Park Arena.
