Fort Falcons ‘Tackle Hunger’ aims to raise donations for food bank

The Fort Sask Falcons football team will be raising donations for the food bank this weekend through their ‘Tackle Hunger’ event.

There will be several games over the weekend between the Falcons at Taurus Field, with the only cost being a donation to the Fort Saskatchewan Food Bank.

“It’s a great community initiative and it goes right along with what our values are as the Fort Falcons and how we teach our players to serve the community and be responsible citizens as they grow,” said Chris Malo, head coach for the falcons. “We’re very excited to support the food bank. On a personal level and an organizational level, we all feel that this is one of the most important institutions that any community has, and there’s more need than ever.”

The event starts with their ‘Friday Night Lights’ game, which begins with the peewee team at 6 p.m. The bantam will be taking over the field at 8:30.

There is another set of games on Sunday with the novice and atom groups. They’ll be going from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“We look forward to seeing everyone come out. Come support our teams and watch our games.”

Heartland Ford, Taurus Projects Group, and Southfort Chevrolet have all sponsored the event. You can either drop off your donation at one of those locations, or at the game itself.
