A self-proclaimed spiritural leader from Edmonton and his wife will be pleading not guilty to sexual assault charges.
John and Leigh Ann de Ruiter ran a group called the College of Integrated Philosophy, also known as the Oasis Group.
According to the charges, John is being charged of sexually assaulting seven of the women in the group between 2012 and 2020.
Both John and Leigh Ann are facing five counts of sexual assault, where they will be tried together. John also has two other counts of sexual assault that he will be facing alone.
The couple remains on bail, and a trial date has not been released. The de Ruiters lawyer said that they’re expecting a lengthy trial.
