The Gibbons Pioneers are looking for billets for their players.
As the season begins on October 6, the Pioneers have about twenty players in need of billets in the area.
“A billet is a family that takes players in over the course of the season, and basically brings them in as a member of the family,” said Steve Arsenault, head coach and general manager of the Pioneers.
This season the Pioneers have extended their scope, bringing in players from Manitoba, southern Alberta, and even the east coast.
“It’s important we provide safe places for them,” added Arsenault.
Those who serve as billets for players will also receive complimentary gifts from the Pioneers, including a bar area for billet families in their arena.
“To be honest, without billets, junior hockey doesn’t work, and just about at every level.”
Those looking to become a billet family for a Pioneer player are asked to contact the team on their website here.
The Pioneers main camp got started on September 5.
