One charged in Anthony Henday crash

Edmonton police have given an update on the crash that occurred on Anthony Henday Drive early Thursday (Oct. 5) morning.

According to police, a red Cadillac CTS struck a white Toyota Highlander and continued on, striking a school bus before crashing into the ditch.

This led to heavy delays on Anthony Henday Drive as officers worked to investigate and clean the scene. The road opened back up just before 11 a.m.

The driver of the Toyota, a woman in her 30s, was checked by EMS on the scene where they observed no injuries. The school bus driver and the driver of the Cadillac were taken to hospital for precautionary reasons.

There were no students on the bus during the time of the crash.

Police believe that speed and impairment were factors in the crash, with charges pending against the 35-year-old driver of the Cadillac.

Authorities are continuing to investigate.
