Edmonton woman arrested and charged with premeditated murder

The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has arrested a 23-year-old woman in relation to a homicide on the west side of the city.

On Wednesday (Oct 11) morning, police responded to a weapon complaint at an apartment near 156 Street and 100 Avenue. Police arrived to discover a woman with life-threatening injuries.

EMS tried life-saving measures, but the woman was dead on the scene.

An autopsy identified the woman as 23-year-old Winter Dion and determined that she had been shot.

Investigators have charged Kenyannah Redbear with first-degree murder, with police believing that the two women had known each other.

Redbear’s court date has not been announced.
