Life in The Heartland is coming to Lamont with its bi-annual Info Eve event.
This event features representatives from companies and organizations all across the industrial heartland ready to answer questions about projects and developments in the region.
“We have a bit of an open house, and the companies set up booths trade show style, and people can walk through and visit all the booths,” said Sheena Fitzpatrick, community engagement director with the organization. “We’ve got complimentary refreshments like sandwiches and coffee. So, grab a little bite to eat and gather information from these company representatives.”
The Info Eve event is happening on Wednesday (Oct. 18) at the Lamont Community Hall, with doors opening at 5 p.m.
Fitzpatrick said every event is hosted at a different municipality, with the spring event being in Fort Saskatchewan at the Dow Centennial Centre.
“Our goal of Life in the Heartland is to increase and improve resident awareness of operations happening in the industrial heartland,” said Fitzpatrick “We communicate to residents on a range of topics related to industry activity.”
There will also be a presentation at the event with themes that will also appear in the subsequent episode of their In The Zone podcast. The podcast, which started earlier this year, covers a variety of topics from the ins and outs of air monitoring, and the circular economy of plastics.
“Having items produced with better quality of plastic can be better recycled multiple times, so we’re not just throwing things out. Those single-use plastics could become multiple-use plastics.”
You can listen to the In The Zone podcast by visiting the Life in the Heartland website here.
As for the event, it gives companies a formal opportunity to show their progress and what they have planned for the future.
“People have the opportunity after the presentations to follow up and ask questions on what they just heard and to be able to talk face to face,” added Fitzpatrick. “It allows people to engage in dialogue.”
The event is free to attend but Life in the Heartland asks that those wanting to attend register so that they can get a gauge on attendance. You can register for the event here.
