EPS investigating hit and run that ‘launched’ woman

Edmonton Police Service is looking for a driver suspected of a hit and run they say “launched” a woman several meters, landing her in hospital with what are described as serious injuries.

EPS say on Friday, October 20, some time before 6:15 p.m., the woman, in her 50s, had been crossing North in the crosswalk on 28th Avenue just East of Youville Drive West NW in the Mill Woods area near Grey Nuns Community Hospital. That’s when police say the driver of an older, gold or tan, Chevrolet Trailblazer hit her.

The driver was going West on 28th Ave. before taking off North on Youville Dr. without stopping to remain at the scene.

Police would like to know if anyone has dashcam footage or eye witness accounts from the crash or the moments leading up to it. Tips can be relayed to EPS Major Collision Investigation Section at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous tips are also welcomed at Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at p3tips.com.

EPS have released this image of a vehicle suspected of a hit and run involving a pedestrian on October 20. It is an older model tan on gold Chevrolet Trailblazer.
