EPS hunt for driver accused in fatal hit and run

A woman is dead after being hit by a vehicle in the northbound lanes of Victoria Trail near the Yellowhead overpass in Edmonton sometime around 9:15 p.m. Monday.

Witnesses tell police that the victim had been crossing westbound, against a red light, when a blue minivan struck her. Police say the driver, who was not described, “sped away,” from the crash, heading northbound on Victoria Trail.

Witnesses attempted to save the victim’s life before emergency medical responders arrived. However, the victim was pronounced dead on scene by EMS.

The Edmonton Police Service’s major collision investigators has assumed the investigation. They believe the suspect’s vehicle would have a damaged front end, and possibly to its hood and windshield.

Anyone with information, including dashcam footage of the incident, is asked to call EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
