EPS: hit-and-run vehicle found

Edmonton police have confirmed that they’ve located the vehicle that was involved in the fatal hit-and-run that happened on Victoria Trail on Monday evening.

The crash happened as a female pedestrian was crossing the northbound lanes of Victoria Trail against a red light. While crossing, she was struck by a blue minivan.

Life-saving measures were performed on the woman by witnesses, but she was pronounced dead by paramedics once they arrived.

On Tuesday evening, officers located the suspect vehicle, a 2009 Volkswagen Routan, in a neighbourhood near 62 Street and 148 Avenue.

Turns out, this vehicle was stolen. The owner of the Volkswagen had reported the vehicle stolen earlier that day, the morning after the collision.

Police are continuing to investigate the fatal hit-and-run collision and are looking for any information that could help them locate the suspect driver.

Anyone with information on the hit-and-run are being asked to contact EPS at 780-423-4567.
