Snowboard world cup returns to Edmonton

Big Air snowboarding returns to Edmonton later this year.

The Style Experience FIS Snowboard Big Air World Cup will be returning to Commonwealth Stadium on December 9.

This event will be the first stop for the Shred the North Series of major snowboard events in Canada. There will also be a new urban snowboarding feature added to the event.

Construction on the 65-foot jump will began after the Heritage Classic, which took place on October 29. There will also be the urban rail jam built into the stands for urban snowboarders.

According to organizers, this jump is the largest scaffold-built urban jump on Earth.

The competition will also feature a festival of live music, public tube slide, and even a fighter jet flyby.
