Update on father-son shooting in Edmonton

There’s been an update on the shooting in Edmonton that ended with a father and son being killed.

Harp Uppal and his 11-year-old son were shot and killed near a gas station in the area of 50 Street and Ellerslie Road on Thursday at around noon.

When emergency crews arrived, they found the father and son sitting in their vehicle in medical distress. They died at the scene.

After the shooting, police also found a burning vehicle north of Beaumont, in the area of 34 Street and Township Road. Police believe the vehicle was involved in the shooting.

Uppal was known to police after being targeted in another shooting at a Royal Pizza on October 8, 2021. This shooting led to the arrest of Harsh Jindal.

Jindal faced charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and discharge of a firearm.

In the current shooting, autopsies for Uppal and his son are scheduled for next week.
