EPS publish images of suspects and vehicle in murder of Harpreet Uppal and son

Edmonton Police have published an image and security camera video of the suspects in the shooting death of Harpreet Uppal and his 11-year-old son. 

The shooting occurred Thursday, November 9, at about 12 p.m. in the parking lot of a Petro Canada gas bar and A&W restaurant. 

The victims died on scene. A third person, another 11-year-old boy who was a friend Uppal’s son, was inside the vehicle at the time of the shooting but was not physically harmed. 

Police describe the vehicle used in the crime as a black BMW SUV. That the suspects exited the vehicle at the 50th Street and Ellerslie Road location, and ran toward Uppal’s white SUV, opened fire, and fled. 

Thereafter, police discovered a 2012 black BMW X6 ablaze near 34th Street and Township Road 510, North of Beaumont. Police are investigating whether this vehicle is the same one that the suspects used in the killing. 

Autopsies are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
