RCMP investigate Strathcona County stabbing; believe suspect died in single vehicle crash on the Henday

While the investigation continues, the RCMP believes the suspect wanted in connection to a stabbing is dead.

Today, at 5:17 a.m., emergency medical services transported the victim, a 44-year-old woman, from a residence on Range Road 221 in Strathcona County, to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries, the RCMP said in a news release. The suspect had fled before the police arrived.

Then, at 8:45 a.m., the RCMP assisted Edmonton Police Service with a fatal single vehicle crash on the southbound side of the Anthony Henday, South of 153 Avenue exit.

In a separate news release, EPS described the victim of this crash as a 21-year-old man who was pronounced dead on scene by paramedics. He was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion when he left the road and collided with the concrete base of a pole at highway speed.

The Mounties say they believe the suspect of the earlier stabbing was killed in this crash.
