Wataskiwin RCMP Probe ‘Suspicious’ Fires Occurring Within 24hr; in Close Proximity

The Mounties in Wataskiwin, Alta, are investigating three separate fires the force has deemed, “suspicious,” due to the proximity relative to one another in time and location.

  • Sunday, November 19, 5:21 p.m.
    Police respond to fire at a vacant shed on 45 Avenue at 57 Street.
  • Sunday, November 19, 10:03 p.m.
    Police respond to fire at a detached garage in 50 Avenue at 54 Street
  • Monday, November, 20, 4:32 a.m.
    Police respond to fire at a vacant commercial building on 49 Avenue at 55 Street.
    Police said the building was a complete loss.

“RCMP believe that all three fires are suspicious and potentially related to the same suspect [or suspects],” police said in a media release.

The RCMP asks anyone with tips relevant to this investigation to contact the Wataskiwin RCMP at 780-594-3302 or Crime Stoppers.
