Heavy police presence in Sherwood Park as residents asked to avoid area

There was a heavy police presence in Sherwood Park last night, according to Strathcona County RCMP.

Just after 11:30 p.m., police were on scene in the Mills Haven neighbourhood, near the corner of Broadmoor Boulevard and Main Boulevard.

Although officers asked residents to avoid the area, they also mentioned that there was no immediate threat to the public.

Almost three hours last, at around 2:15 a.m., police said that the request to avoid the area had been lifted. The RCMP also thanked the public for their assistance.

Although the exact nature of the heavy police presence is unknown, an update is expected in the future.
