St. Albert Shelter in Place Order Result of Gun Fire Late Friday Night

The Mounties were called to a home on Amber Cresent, near Herbert Road and Akins Drive, in St. Albert on Friday, November 24, at 11:42 p.m., due to reports of assault and that of shots were fired.

People in the area were asked to stay inside, stay away from windows, and to otherwise avoid the area due to the police operation to secure the residence.

By 2:45 a.m., Saturday, November 25, the police had taken a suspect into custody with the assistance of emergency response officers. No injuries were reported. The home was searched, and police say firearms were seized.

Police say 54-year-old Kirk Bonko of St. Albert has been charged with four firearms offences, and assault, and kept in custody following an appearance before a justice of the peace.

Bonko is scheduled to appear in court today, Monday, November 27.
