Man charged in Leduc bicycle thefts

Leduc RCMP have charged a 24-year-old man with possession of stolen property in connection to a string of bike thefts from earlier this month.

On November 27 police received two reports of a suspicious grey truck in the Corinthia Park neighbourhood. According to police, occupants of the truck were spotted taking bicycles from an alleyway.

Police patrolled the area and eventually tracked down the truck. After further investigation, the passenger was arrested, and the bicycles were seized.

24-year-old Brandon McGregor, a resident of Leduc, has been charged with possession of stolen property, and failing to comply with a release order.

All four of the bicycles found in the truck are believed to be stolen property.

“We would like to thank the public who called police in a timely manner,” said Constable Cheri-Lee Smith, with Leduc RCMP. “The information we received from the public led us to locate and arrest the suspects.”

Leduc RCMP are looking to speak with anyone else in the area who may have noticed property missing and are also looking to identify the owners of the recovered bicycles.

McGregor has been released from custody with a court date scheduled for December 14.

Anyone with information related to this incident are asked to get in contact with Leduc RCMP at 780-980-7267.
