Brief lockdown at West Edmonton Mall after gun sighting

There was a brief lockdown at West Edmonton Mall on Saturday.

At around 2:30 p.m., police responded to a weapons complaint at the mall where a man was reportedly seen with a gun.

The mall was placed on lockdown as police arrived on scene and tracked down the man who was seen with the weapon.

Police placed the man in custody, saying that throughout the whole incident, no shots were fired, and nobody was injured.

After police had the suspect, the lockdown was lifted once it was determined there was no longer a threat to the public.

Charges are pending against the unnamed man involved in the incident.
