Edmonton Police Seek Witnesses to Coliseum LRT Platform Assault

A 55-year-old-woman remains in critical condition after police say she was attacked by two pre-teen girls while waiting for a train at the Coliseum LRT platform on Sunday, November 26, around 8:30 p.m.

Police say the suspects approached their victim, “began berating her, [and] subsequently assaulted her to the point of unconsciousness.”

The kids fled the area, but police caught them nearby, police said.

Two twelve-year-old girls have been charged with aggravated assault.

“While we have charged the two youth suspects, we understand there were witnesses on the platform at the time of the assault who we are looking to speak with,” Staff Sergeant Ian Brooks with the Downtown Investigative Response Team is quoted as saying in a news release.

“We encourage those witnesses to contact police at their earliest convenience.”

EPS can be reached directly at 780-423-4567, and anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers.
