First Leduc turkey drive helps dozens of families

Leduc RCMP’s first ever turkey drive was a huge success.

The drive, hosted by the RCMP and other partners, collected 23 turkeys and $140 in cash to help support the Leduc & District Food Bank.

“This was our first year doing a turkey drive and in typical fashion, the community of Leduc always comes together to support others,” said Constable Cheri-Lee Smith with Leduc RCMP.

Because of the generous donations by Leduc residents, over 20 families will be able to enjoy turkey dinner this holiday season.

This also comes as their annual Stuff A Cruiser event pulled in an additional $4,500 and over 4,800 pounds of food for the local food bank as well.

For those that missed out on the event, the Leduc & District Food Bank accepts cash and food donations throughout the year. You can learn more on how to donate by visiting their website.
