Fort Saskatchewan gets six new firefighters

The Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department got six new firefighters this week.

These new firefighters will allow the fire department to have a second fire truck in service at all times. This brings the local fire department closer to meeting their planned service level, which was approved by council back in June.

In recent years it has been difficult for the Fort Saskatchewan Fire Department to have a full crew on the scene of fires. A review of the situation suggested bringing in 14 more firefighters and building a second fire hall.

This second fire hall is expected to be built in Southfort, but won’t be considered until the start of 2025.
