Edmonton Police Seek Help Identifying Suspect Wanted for ‘Random’ New Year’s Eve Stabbings

Edmonton Police Service has published three still images from security camera footage of a man suspected of two separate stabbings near the core on Sunday evening. Police believe the incidents are random acts of violence.

The first stabbing occurred at about 9:15 p.m., around 96 Street at 111 Avenue, police said. In this case a 63-year-old man was the victim.

Them approximately 20 minutes later, a 45-year-old man was stabbed at the Kingsway Transit Centre.

The suspect then left the transit centre on foot, and was last observed heading southbound, toward downtown.

Police describe the man as between 20 and 30 years old. He was wearing a black hoodie, black jacket, blue jeans, and carrying a black and green backpack at the time of the Kingsway Transit Centre Assault.

Both victims were critically injured and transported to hospital.
