Edmonton, Calgary first responders hold blood donating competition

First responders in Edmonton and Calgary are doing a competition for a good cause.

Police, paramedics, and firefighters from both cities are competing to see who can donate the most blood through the Sirens for Life challenge.

This comes as Canadian Blood Services is looking to bring in 500 new donors and collect over 5,000 donations by the end of the month.

Many first responders are inspired to take part in the challenge due to their own personal experiences on the job, with Calgary beating Edmonton last year by around 500 donations.

You can become a blood donor yourself by visiting the Canadian Blood Services website.
