EPS: violent sex offender released

Edmonton Police Serivce (EPS) are issuing a warning about the release of convicted violent sexual offender Jason Hipson.

Hipson will be residing in Edmonton after his release and police believe that he will commit another offense while in the community.

Hipson has been violent in the past, which resulted in physical harm to his victims. His victims are a number of women, both minors and adults. He is also known to put himself in a position where he gains trust of the victim’s family.

His release comes with a series of court ordered conditions, including:

  • He must live at a residence approved by his Supervisor.
  • He must abide by a curfew of 10 PM to 6 AM.
  • He must not travel out of the City of Edmonton.
  • He can’t be in the presence of any children under the age of 16.
  • He can’t be within 100 meters of a public park, public swimming area, daycare, school ground, playground, recreational centers, community centers, youth shelters, public libraries, or any other area where people under the age of 16 are present.
  • He can’t purchase, possess, or consume any alcoholic beverages or drugs, with the exception of cannabis and prescription drugs.
