Old Fort Mall intersection now lightless

The lights at the intersection of 99 Avenue and 105 Street have been shut off, according to the City of Fort Saskatchewans.

A breakdown of the detection loops last week caused the power outage, and with the loops being buried underground, it won’t be repaired over the winter.

Because of this, the lights are expected to remain shut off, at least until the spring.

However, the city may even consider removing the lights altogether, and are monitoring the intersection throughout the winter before making a decision in the spring.

The old mall has had renovations in the works for the last few decades, with most of the mall being demolished in the 2010s.
