City of Fort Saskatchewan adds pool vote to spring census

The City of Fort Saskatchewan wants to know the public’s input on their plans to bring a new pool to the city.

They will be getting input through their upcoming spring census, with is the most cost effective way to get the public’s thoughts on the new facility.

This new pool would be located at the Dow Centennial Centre and is expected to cost around $54 million to build, and $3.7 million every year to operate.

Council will also be providing residents with concept drawings and the cost of demolishing the current Harbour Pool, and a rough cost for the new pool over the cost of the next 40 years. This information will be made available before the spring census.

City council was told that it would cost about $76,000 to hold a public vote on the pool, while it would be no extra cost to add questions about the pool to the census, which costs around $48,000.
