Edmonton Police Report Shots Fired, Molotov Cocktail at City Hall

Edmonton Police Service [EPS] report shots were fired in city hall, and a Molotov cocktail was thrown from the second floor of the atrium.

The sound of shots being fired could be overheard by a city’s council live stream at approximately 10:25 a.m., as first published by CTV Edmonton.

“At this time, no injuries have been reported,” EPS spokesperson Cheryl Voordenhout wrote in an email to media at 12:02 p.m. Tuesday.

Edmonton Mayor Amarjeet Sohi wrote on X Twitter that city hall is on lockdown.

At 11:04 a.m., EPS reported that police were on scene investigating a weapon complaint at the city’s seat of municipal government.

“One person has been arrested and police are doing a sweep of City Hall. Roadways around city hall have been closed and citizens are asked to avoid the area,” Voordenhout wrote in the earlier note.
