Edmonton Police Arrest Crime Spree Suspect

Edmonton Police arrested a man they suspect of a carjacking, two robberies, an assault, and attempted bank fraud.

Police say that over the course of two days, January 8 and 9, 42-year-old Shawn Lundgren perpetrated two commercial robberies in the North and West end, a carjacking in Westmount, an assault at one West Edmonton bank, and attempted fraud at another. He now faces several related charges.

Police arrested Lundgren on Tuesday, January 23 and in a news release, police credited the assistance of the public in tracking him down.

“Investigators are thankful for the assistance that was received from citizens in both identifying and locating a suspect who was believed to pose a high risk to the public,” said Detective Mike Walkom, who investigates robberies.

“We encourage members of the public to ensure they bring the information they know of suspects and crimes forward and not to assume someone else has done so.”
