Speed, Impairment Believed Factors in Edmonton Crash That Causes Power Outage

Edmonton Police Service reports a power outage around the Strathcona Junction area of the city.

Police say at about 2:00 a.m.Tuesday, a 2019 Infinity, “lost control,” near 99 Street at 69 Avenue, went off the road, over the East sidewalk, into a fence and, finally “shearing off a wooden power pole which in turn caused a power outage to the community.”

In an email from police a spokesperson, EPS report that Epcor is on the scene working to restore electricity to affected customers, which has resulted in a lane closure on the Northbound side of 99 Street. Police suggest motorists choose an alternative route.

Meanwhile, police say the driver sustained non-life threatening injuries, and while the investigation is ongoing, “speed and impairment are believed to be factors,” police say.
