Edmonton Police Charge Man with Second Degree Murder

Edmonton Police Service has charged a 30-year-old man with second degree murder following the Monday afternoon stabbing death of a man in a home near 35 Street and 122A Avenue in the city’s Northeast.

Police say they arrived at the residence at about 3:45 p.m. to reports of a stabbing. Officers discovered 35-year-old Cody Lyle in medical distress. EMS transported Lyle to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

After a Tuesday autopsy, the cause and manner of death were determined to be a stab wound and homicide, respectively.

EPS say they have charged 30-year-old Jayden Cody Francis Cardinal in relation to the homicide.
