Near record extreme temperatures reported in January

According to the Fort Air Partnership, January 2024 was an extreme month for temperatures.

January 14 was the coldest day of the month, with a winter storm hitting many parts of the country. That morning there was a recorded temperature of -39 C without the windchill.

However, just over two weeks later, on January 30, there was a daytime high of 11 C recorded in the afternoon. Between those two days there’s a temperature difference of 51 degrees.

Although there were no record highs or lows broken last month, February 1 did report a record high of 12 degrees.
