Edmonton Police Service Suspects Arson Housefire Homicide

Edmonton Police Service say a housefire is being investigated for arson, and that a body found in the basement is being investigated as homicide.

EPS say that on Tuesday, February 13, at about 2:36 a.m., Edmonton Fire Rescue Service called them to assist at a fire in a home near 121 Avenue and 37 Street, in the Beverly area. After putting out the fire, EFRS found a body in the basement, prompting the call to EPS.

Police say the fire is being treated as suspicious and that a homicide investigation team is leading the investigation alongside EFRS arson investigators.

Police say an autopsy has yet to be scheduled.
