Fatal hit and run suspect convicted

A suspect in a fatal hit and run that happened in Edmonton last year has been convicted.

On December 1, police responded to reports of a hit and run near 156 Street and 107 Avenue.

When officers arrived, they discovered 31-year-old Lawrence Bishop. It was believed that he had been hit by a black SUV while in the parking lot.

The driver of the SUV fled the scene after the accident, while Bishop was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police identified the driver of the SUV as 38-year-old Johnathan Morgan, with police saying that Morgan and Bishop knew each other.

On Tuesday (Feb. 13), Morgan was sentenced to six and a half years in jail for the hit and run, while also having his license suspended for the next 10 years.
