Edmonton Police Lay Murder Charge in Kilkenny Homicide

Edmonton Police Service accuse a 19-year-old man in the Monday evening shooting death of a 38-year-old man near 77 Street and 147 Avenue, in the city’s Kilkenny area.

EPS officers arrived on the scene of the crime at about 5:30 p.m. to discover the victim, identified as Ryan Lariviere, in medical distress. Officers offered first aid until paramedics arrived. Paramedics took over treating Lariviere, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say the Wednesday autopsy on Lariviere’s body revealed he died as the result of gunshot wounds, and the manner of death was homicide.

Homicide detectives accuse the suspect, Muktar Mohammed-Ali, with second degree murder and pointing a firearm. They also believe there may be other suspects involved.
