St. Albert Backyard Gardening Group Hold Spring Seed Swap Saturday

Green thumbs in and around St. Albert will gather at the St. Albert Backyard Gardening Group’s Spring 2024 seed swap event this weekend.

It is a free, family-friendly event that will occur at Red Willow Place located at 7 Tache Street, St. Albert, on Saturday, March 2.

The group, which was founded by Aida Mustapic, said on the group’s Facebook page that an, “exchange of seeds between the local gardeners will be the main part of the three-hour event.

“We will have an abundance of free seed packets like we do every year, so please do not hesitate to attend even if you don’t have any seeds to exchange. We will send you home with seeds and solid advice about how to plant and grow them,” the event page reads.

The event will also feature a selection of seed vendors from a 100km radius of the St. Albert and Morinville area. “If you are interested in not just Alberta-grown, but very local to St. Albert [and] Edmonton-area small seed producers, they will be there,” the group said.

The group notes that it received an Environmental Initiative grant from St. Albert, and credits the grant for “greatly assisting,” in hosting this event.
