Alberta planning to invest $2.1 billion to build new schools

The provincial government is looking to invest $2.1 billion over three years to help build and modernize schools across Alberta.

If passed, this funding could advance 43 priority school projects in the province, including 28 new schools, 10 replacement schools, and five modernizations.

Another part of the investment would see $103 million used over the three years to supply modular classrooms for schools facing issues with capacity.

As for Edmonton, there would be 14 school projects in the area, including several new schools, and a few other school replacements.

“This announcement is a significant step forward in helping us serve the growing number of families who are choosing Edmonton Catholic Schools, and we are pleased to see the province’s commitment to building new schools coming to fruition,” said Sandra Palazzo, board chair with Edmonton Catholic Schools.
