Gibbons Broncos end season after loss against SWZ Oil Kings

The playoff season is over for the Gibbons Broncos.

The Broncos were defeated in the first round of playoffs against the SWZ Oil Kings in a best of three series. The Gibbons took the win in the first game before being defeated by the Oil Kings in the second game.

In the final game, hosted on February 29 at Terwillegar D Arena, the Oil Kings just barely beat the Broncos with a score of 4-3.

“We knew the defending champs Oil Kings would be a tough series and we weren’t wrong,” wrote the Broncos on their Facebook page. “Take this opportunity to win it this year, because next year we’re coming!”

The Broncos thanked the fans, sponsors, and Gibbons residents for their support before teasing at their April spring skates, and their 2nd annual Golf Classic that’s coming in the summer.

The Broncos spent the first 30 per cent of the season building up a 7 game losing streak before ending the regular season with a score of 12-5-1, making them a top 3 team by the start of playoffs.

“This young team grew a lot and will keep that momentum going into next season.”
