Alberta RCMP charge Edmonton man for stealing, re-VINing vehicles

The Alberta RCMP Auto Theft Unit had arrested an Edmonton man for allegedly stealing and re-VINing vehicles.

Their investigation began back in February as they were looking into vehicles that had been fraudulently registered. This investigation led to police executing a search warrant at an Edmonton home on Wednesday.

While executing the warrant, police seized:

  • 2 stolen re-VINned vehicles
  • Vehicle key programmers
  • $7800 in counterfeit currency
  • Stolen mail and cheques

The seizure led to police arresting David Joseph Wood and charging him with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 (x2)
  • Possess a forged document (x2)
  • Fraudulent concealment (x2)
  • Possess counterfeit money
  • Alter Vehicle identification number (x2)
  • Possess break-in instruments
  • Fail to comply with release order

Wood has been placed in custody leading up to his court date, which is next Thursday in Edmonton.
