The strike planned by Civic Service Union 52 (CSU 52) in Edmonton has been cancelled.
The strike was announced on Monday and was supposed to begin on Thursday morning. However, a statement released by the city just 12 minutes before the strike was set to begin confirmed that the strike had been postponed by a day.
A few hours after the strike were postponed, the city of Edmonton announced that a deal had been struck between the city and CSU 52, which has led to the strike’s cancellation.
“The tentative agreement must be ratified by union members, and CSU 52 establishes its ratification process. Out of respect for that process, the City of Edmonton will not release details about the agreement until the ratification is complete,” the city wrote in a statement.
Despite a deal being reached, a member of CSU 52 said to CTV News that this agreement does not include the Edmonton Public Library.
More details are expected to be released before the end of the week.
