St. Albert RCMP arrest casino robbery suspect

After almost five months of investigations and St. Albert RCMP have arrested a suspect in connection to a robbery that happened at the Century Casino.

On November 12, at 3:52 p.m., a man entered the casino on Bourdeau Road, brandished a gun, and demanded money.

Upon receiving an undisclosed sum of cash, the suspect left the casino, got into a Jeep Cheroke, and drove away past the Alberta, Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis Centre, a block Northeast of the casino, police said.

The investigation led police to Regina, Saskatchewan where they teamed up with Regina Police Services to locate and arrest the suspect.

49-year-old Shaun Rains has been charged with:

  • Robbery with Imitation Firearm
  • Use of Imitation Firearm
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Carry Concealed Weapon

Rains was taken from Regina to St. Albert where he remains in custody leading up to his court date on May 8.
