Residential street sweeping has begun in both Sherwood Park and St. Albert.
In St. Albert, street sweeping started on April 7 on major arterial roads before moving to residential roads on Monday. Sherwood Park began their residential street sweeping on the same day.
“The City will be sweeping residential neighbourhoods on a rotational basis. All street cleaning activities are coordinated with waste collection schedules and will not affect regular pick up days,” wrote the City of St. Albert on their website.
The process is expected to take several weeks, and in the case of rural areas in Strathcona County, may take until June.
Things residents can do to help include moving parked cars, sweeping sidewalks, removing rubber driveway mats, and not parking on the street until the signage has been removed.
St. Albert may also be using nighttime crews, which helps with traffic disruptions and allowing crews to work more safely.
“Residents backing onto arterial roadways may experience some related noise. This inconvenience will only last a short time,” St. Albert wrote on their website.
You can see the Strathcona County cleaning order on their website, with St. Albert currently cleaning up Deer Ridge, North Ridge, Lacombe Estates, and Ville Giroux.
