Knights of the Northern Realm arriving in Fort Saskatchewan

This weekend, the Knights of the Northern Realm will be making an appearance in Fort Saskatchewan.

The Knights will be giving a presentation at the Fort Saskatchewan Public Library on Saturday starting at 2 p.m.

The Knights of the Northern Realm are a 14th century living history group who teach about the experience of living in medieval times with an emphasis on weapons and armour.

“They got in touch with us. They’ve been reaching out to many different libraries in the Edmonton area and are generously doing these sessions for free to promote their group, their interests, and all the cool things they have,” said Emily Springer, community literacy librarian at the Fort Saskatchewan Public Library.

The library’s mandate is based around life long learning, whether it’s through education or recreation, with Springer adding that the library is trying to bring in events that are interesting to residents.

“As far as I know, this type of program is new to the community,” added Springer. “Everything from babies to seniors, we’re trying to offer something.”

The event is free to attend with the library expecting a turnout of about 40 people. You can learn more about the Knights of the Northern Realm by visiting their Facebook page.
