Strathcona County is hosting several events and programs for Emergency Preparedness Week.
Between May 5 and 11, Community Safety Educators with the county will be helping residents prepare for emergencies and disasters while answering questions about emergency preparedness.
“Emergency preparedness can make a significant difference when it comes to saving lives and preventing injuries,” said fire chief Martin Paulson. “We can’t always prevent emergencies, but we can prepare ourselves and our families to handle them effectively.”
There are other events such as a free emergency preparedness class which includes a tour of the county’s Emergency Operations Centre. Registration for the class is available on the Strathcona County website.
The county’s website also features daily tips to prepare for disasters with the option to sign up for the county’s emergency alerts.
“Everyone has a responsibility and plays an important role in keeping family, friends, businesses and the community safe,” wrote the county in a release.
