London Drugs reopens following cyberattack

London Drugs locations all across Western Canada reopened on Monday after closing down to a cyberattack.

The cyberattack was on April 28, affecting 79 stores in British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. The breach also caused the company to disable its telephone lines.

Although data being compromised was a concern early into the stores closing down, the retailer claims to have found no evidence of customer data being taken.

As the stores were closed, employees were given the choice to come into work and stock shelves, or to redeem vacation days during the closure. Once the stores opened on Friday, the head of London Drugs apologized to customers.

Police continue to investigate into the closure, with London Drugs not publicly stating the exact nature of the cyberattack.
