Construction underway at Bethel Transit Terminal

Strathcona County will be making improvements to the Bethel Transit Terminal over the summer.

Construction work began earlier this month and will last until October, with the project replacing the perimeter asphalt roadway within the terminal. There are also spot concrete repairs being planned.

Construction will be completed in phases to ensure the terminal can remain open and operational. These phases include removing the asphalt road, improving drainage, and replacing fences and gutters.

The terminal parking lot will not be affected by construction, and the bus schedules at the terminal remain the same. However, transit will not be able to hold buses, which may cause minor delays. The county recommends that riders arrive early if under a tight schedule.

Residents can also expect pick-up and drop-off points being temporarily changed during different phases of the project, with pedestrian detours also being put in place.

Most of the project has been funded by the provincial government, with only 10 per cent of the cost being paid for by Strathcona County.
