The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) located two handguns during two separate traffic stops last month.
Just after noon on May 5 police responded to reports of a man sleeping in a vehicle that was parked in an alley near 134 Avenue and 58 Street. When officers arrived, they discovered the driver passed out.
Police woke the man up before arresting him for being impaired, and upon further investigation discovered a loaded handgun, cocaine, methamphetamine, and Percocet.
Farrukhi Sarvar was charged with possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property, and possession of body armour, among other charges. His court date is scheduled for Friday.
In the early hours of May 11, police were patrolling the area of 66 Street and 153 Avenue when they saw a vehicle speed past them.
Officers caught up to the vehicle where they initiated a traffic stop. When the vehicle stopped, all three occupants ran from the vehicle.
Two of the three occupants were arrested by police, with one of them found with a loaded handgun. The other suspect was caught breaching curfew.
While searching the vehicle, police allegedly found illicit drugs.
Tyler James Bjornstad, and Roxanne Larissa Franco, have had several charges laid against them, including obstructing a police officer, with Bjornstad’s court date scheduled for the end of May.
Police are still looking to identify the third suspect who had fled from police. Anyone who may know the suspect is asked to contact EPS at 780-423-4567.
