Rainmaker Festival kicks off in St. Albert

The St. Albert Rainmaker Festival kicked off today and will be running throughout the entire weekend.

This event features a country and rock concert series, a rodeo, a carnival with games, food and rides, a parade, and even a local marketplace.

“The Rainmaker is a large festival in St. Albert, Alberta that the St. Albert Family of Kin has been hosting since it began in 1965,” wrote the event organizers on their website. “That’s over 55 years!”

The event begins at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday as the fairground gates open, followed by pig races, dog shows, and a silent dance party. Throughout the rest of the weekend there will be petting zoos, live performances, and even a pancake breakfast.

The event is put together by the Kinsmen Club, Kinette Club, K-40 Club and K-ette Club of St. Albert, with tickets and a full map of the event available on the Rainmaker Events website.

“Some email providers are flagging the QR codes on our tickets as junk or spam when we are sending them out. If you do not receive your tickets within an hour, please check these mailboxes first,” wrote the organizers.

The event takes place at 47 Riel Drive in St. Albert.
