Serial killer Robert Pickton dead

Robert Pickton has died as a result of injuries sustained in an attack by a fellow inmate on May 19, aged 74.  At the time of the attack, Pickton was serving an indeterminate sentence at the Port-Cartier Institution in Quebec for six counts of second-degree murder.

Pickton preyed on women on the margins of society from Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.  Although he was convicted in 2007 in six deaths, Pickton confessed to an undercover police officer of killing 49 women.
