UPDATED: One dead in Northeast Edmonton collision

A 26-year-old male is dead after a single vehicle collision on 144 Avenue between 66 and 67 Streets.

EPS responded to a report of a serious collision this morning at 5:20am.  It was reported that a grey Pontiac Grand Prix had been traveling eastbound on 144 Avenue where it collided with a pole near M.E. LaZerte High School.

Major Collision officers found the lone occupant of the vehicle deceased at the scene.

Speed is believed to be a major factor in the collision.  Police also determined that the vehicle had been stolen a short time before the collision.

Since May 29, four people have lost their lives in collisions on Edmonton streets.
